A decision in July by eBay now allows sellers and buyers a selection of alternative payment options on their website. The world's largest auction site's decision now gives sellers a choice of the payment system they wish to use, and allows them to offer payment options to their customers who purchase from the site.

Paymate (www.paymate.com), a global provider of internet payment services, has been approved to integrate their service into the eBay Checkout process on eBay Australia/New Zealand. They become the only third party alternative to PayPal and Direct Bank Deposits as an approved payment method. Paymate's sellers in Australia can now sell on www.ebay.com.au with the additional benefits of the integration of Paymate into Checkout pages.

Dilip Rao, Managing Director and founder of Paymate said:

"It is an absolutely great development for us and a wise decision by them to allow competition on their site between payment methods." He added: "We have always been an accepted method of payment on eBay, but for real competition you need to be integrated into the checkout system and that is now happening."

Contributing to this move by eBay Australia, was their need to improve the overall auction experience for its customers, and the success of Paymate on eBay's US site: eBay.com.

PaymatePaymate offers a credit card payment service that Australian and New Zealand sellers can use to accept payments via Visa and MasterCard on eBay Checkout as well as websites. Australian sellers can also accept foreign currencies from buyers but get paid in AUD. Paymate's risk assessment systems will help sellers avoid fraud while buyers will be fully protected against unauthorised payments and non-delivery of goods.

arcaeon lends a hand

The move has meant that Paymate needed to set up new eBay integration software, including customisation of branded payment gateways on checkout pages for their customers. Among the official providers of technical support, Paymate has enlisted Australian design agency: Arcaeon (www.arcaeon.com) to head up many of the design and integration projects as a 3rd party service provider. If customers wish to integrate their website with Paymate or to trouble-shoot problems on their payment page, Arcaeon Design Studio provides direct support.

Daniel de Lafoix, Director of Arcaeon said: "We welcome Paymate's decision in choosing us for the support role. We're structured in a way that allows our people to rapidly respond to Paymate's site-customisation needs".
